Magnitude 8.8 quake, the strongest quake ever in Japanese history, has hit Touhoku (northeastern) and Kanto (central) region yesterday. My hometown is located in central-north Miyagi prefecture, where is one of the region of strongest hit. All coastlines of Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima prefecture were damaged by the devastating tsunami (red circles), causing thousands of fatalities.
Luckily, I could reach to my mom's cellphone 1 hour after the main quake and confirmed they evacuated and are all safe. Also, I could contact to my sister's iPhone through a free texting iPhone app.

I don't know how my house damaged. But my brother-in-law took a picture of my house before evacuating and sent it to me. I can imagine the inside of my house would be totally mess. I suppose my house would relatively have minor damages, comparing to those regions being hit by massive tsunami. I'm glad my house still stands...
Hope I can contact to my family and friends there as soon as possible.
* No worry for Hawaii. We had 3-7ft tsunami and not significant damages have reported.
