Hiking@Kaena Pt. カエナポイントでハイキング

I went hiking to Kaena Point(Western tip of Oahu) with my friends yesterday. This is the second time for me, but took different route from north shore this time. Last time, I hiked from west shore. We had pretty massive solid N-NW swell yesterday and could watch some 20-25ft waves there. Perfect wind direction and swell made such a clean beautiful wipeouts. Oh! We saw few whales too!!
昨日は友達と冬休み最後のアクティビティとして、カエナポイント（西端の岬）でハイキングしてきた。前回行ったときは、西海岸から北上したけど、今回はノースショアからカエナポイントまでハイキング。昨日は、北から大うねりがきてて、６~７mの波を見れた。しかも、ちょ－奇麗な波！カエナポイントでゆっくりしてたら、遠くに鯨も発見！４匹くらいいた。胴体は見えなかったけど、鯨の潮吹きがあちらこちらで見えた。

Some sets were really huge like 25ft. セットは８メートルくらいあったかな？結構遠かったし、サーファーもいないから大きさがいまいち分からない。けどこの写真300メートルは離れて撮ってるからねｗ

Christmas days 2009 Lanikai~Chinaman's Hat~Northshore

Merry Christmas! It's still hard for me to imagine the Christmas season without cold weather!! Unlike the last 23 Christmas seasons in my life, this is the first time to have the Christmas without snow. Anyways, I went to Lanikai beach with my friends yesterday. It was the best day ever without clouds and winds. Lanikai Beach is always beautiful!! And today, with another group of friend, we went to Chinaman's Hat to "hike on the reef" and Waimea Bay to have a BBQ and to watch the huge surf again.
メリークリスマス！初めての雪のない、寒くもないクリスマス。昨日は日本人グループでラニカイビーチでバケーション。サーフィンもしたかったからボード持っていったんだけど、沖遠すぎｗ　それでも挑戦しようと思って、ラニカイビーチの前にある島の付近まで、片道1.2キロのパドルアウト・・・・引き潮だったから行きは良かったけど、帰りは全然進まなくて３０分はかかった・・・・・・　ビーチから見る波は小さかったけど、実際沖に出たら胸～頭位あってかなりパワーのあるいい波で最高だった～！３回しか乗ってないけど、３回とも満足のいくロングライド。今日は、別の友達と、チャイナマンズ・ハットっていう、クアロア牧場の前にある島まで、水の中をハイキング。深い所で胸くらい深かったけど、泳げない俺にとっては最高のハイキングだったｗその後は、ワイメア湾にてビッグウェーブを見ながらバーベキュー！今日のサイズはフェイスサイズ（波の正面からみて）10~13ｍほど。この前のエディの時よりは小さめだけど、それでも迫力あり。　そして、日本人で唯一大会に招待されるビッグウェーバー 脇田 貴之Wakita Takayukiさん発見！一緒に写真撮ればよかったーーーー　ライフガードいわく、今日の午後1時40分ごろ、ありえない大きさのセット（その人いわく、60フィート、約２０m）が来て、波待ちしていた15人中13人が飲み込まれて、そのうち５人のボードが壊れたって・・・・・・　恐ろしや。

My friend used my board.I actually paddled out to the island to surf. One way is about 0.8 miles.... 帰りのことなど考えずに、あの島まで約1.2キロもパドルアウトした。あの双子島に行くのに、もうカヤック借りる必要ないな。

Diving into the ocean! No way. It's pretty scary just standing there.　写真じゃ分からないけど、そこ高さ３０m位あるからね。そこに立ってるだけで怖い・・・・

"Hiking on the reef"　リーフの上をハイキング。


"Waimea shore breaks"　かの有名なワイメア湾、ショア・ブレイク。ショア・ブレイクってのは、リーフブレイクと違って、ビーチに一番近い砂の傾斜で波が割れる事。ビデオに映ってるショアブレイクは大体４m弱。１０m級の波もずっと遠くに映ってるんだけど、やっぱり動画とか写真じゃ分からないね
